Church of Sant Cristòfol de Nevà
From this Romanesque temple from the 11th century, the walls and the bell tower still stand. Its ruins bring us to the time when Nevà was a shelter for Cathars, whose presence can be sensed by the several traces spread around the hamlet. The ruins of a convent and its Cathar cross in bas-relief deserve special mention. We can see this enigmatic cross on the façade of the church Mare de Déu del Carme, built in the 18th century and current liturgical center of the hamlet.
Church of Mare de Déu del Carme de Nevà
This is a temple with beautiful proportions that, in the 18th century, became the parish church substituting that of Sant Cristòfol. Its harmonious bell tower and simple shapes turn it into a building fully integrated building into the rural and bucolic landscape of Nevà. Special mention deserves the cross in bas-relief, which is thought to come from the Cathar ruins on the outskirts of the hamlet. We can see this enigmatic cross on the façade of the church Mare de Déu del Carme, on the right side of the temple’s entrance. In its interior there is a unique sample of the liturgical decorations of Vall de Ribes in the 18th century.
